Boy that sure hammers home just how ridiculously overpriced Alberta and BC Real Estate is. I don't think home buyers in our 2 provinces really grasp just how overpriced real Estate is. They should when they look at your comparison chart. To see that a house in Edmonton is priced with some of the most desirable Real Estate areas in the US is beyond laughable. After all, who wouldn't want to live in Edmonton????? Well from what I have always heard, about 99% of North America.

Calgary vs. Houston

410k vs. 150k

Cold+Snow vs. Sun+Hot

I think I threw up a little in my mouth. Time to renew that expired TN visa and move down there until the insanity up here ends.

Oh yeah...

10HR drive to 50 degree F ocean vs. 1 HR drive to 85+ degree F ocean.

Sorry but the maple leaf just isn't looking that grand anymore. What was it about choosing between the lesser of the two evils? They're getting close.

For some reason I had thought Manhattan was most expensive - is it not a jurisdiction? Does it have only condos so that it is somehow not on this list?

Also if you expect broad declines of 20% or more even in prime areas of California this year this could push Calgary and Vancouver even higher.

I would prefer to live in Alberta over Texas by the way even if Alberta prices are higher (can't swim).

Manhattan is a sub-region of a listed district (not sure which one). The list is for detached homes so I don't think it would have much impact anyway.

However I am comparing Greater Vancouver to the U.S. regions in this list. I believe this is fair because it would account for West Vancouver as well as less expensive regions.

Note that Calgary in this list is Calgary city, and may skew prices upwards while Edmonton includes many satellite communities.
